the bath beat a walking and running event with distances from 12 to 26 miles skip to content home about us 2018 entry rules of entry entry form location charities previous events finishing times 2016 stats & photos 2016 finishing times 2015 stats & photos 2015 finishing times 2014 stats & photos 2014 finishing times 2013 stats & photos 2013 finishing times 2012 stats & photos 2012 stats & photos 2011 links contact home the date for our next event will be saturday 27th april 2019. we will open for entries early in the new year. what is the bath beat? the bath beat is an event usually held in april at the edge of the beautiful city of bath. this years event was on saturday 21st april 2018. starting on the southeastern edge of the city the bath beat takes the walker or runner out into the countryside through the woods, hills and river valleys of this southerly edge of the cotswolds. there are four distances of 12.5, 17, 21 and the popular 26.5 miles, all pass several check points where there are always plenty of home made cakes and sandwiches to keep you going. on the 21 and 26 mile routes, there is hot food and drinks provided in a hall half way around. entry also includes recovery, should you not be able to make it back under your own steam, a certificate for those who do make it, and plenty of food and drink. all routes follow public footpaths and also go along a historical disused canal and across farmland with scenic views. the longest route will visit the villages of bathford, avoncliffe, hinton charterhouse, norton st philip, wellow and combe hay before returning to bath on the somerset coal canal and the village of midford. there is a further description of the route in the links page with links to the various things you will see along the way. what have others said? the best long distance walking (optional running) event in the south west! this event is made memorable by its strangely inverse relationship between bargain entry fees and the large quantity of food available at the checkpoints! you won’t go hungry on this one. great scenery and organisation. makes the bath half marathon look overpriced and badly organised. compton in runners world just to say how fantastic saturday was! we were all so impressed by how well the event was organised & how helpful everyone was. so much time & trouble has obviously been taken to put some really fab routes together & the route planner was brill!! i didn’t realise how really lovely the area is & will definitely be re-walking in the future! maggie norton st philips is the best checkpoint on any race in britain’ simon 2013 what a great day yesterday. thank you for organising and running such an enjoyable event; i’m sure that everyone who participated must have been well pleased with all aspects of it – the beautiful route, the warm welcome and efficiency at check points, the superb food, the route description and the happy atmosphere i found all along the route. dennis i just wanted to pass on my thanks for organising such a great event. i really enjoyed it and will be extolling its virtues to everyone i can. the refreshments were very welcome at every stop. michael our local newspaper, the midland reporter telegram in texas, ran a story last sunday (father’s day) on the marathons we have run. you will notice the article mentions the bath beat! and, there’s even a photo by a bridge in avoncliffe. bill see the article by clicking here. this was the best catered walk we have ever done…although we felt we had put on 10lbs doing it! 6 ladies 2013 share this: twitter facebook google reddit stumbleupon email digg © 2014-2017 the bath beat | website by go get organised send to email address your name your email address cancel post was not sent - check your email addresses! email check failed, please try again sorry, your blog cannot share posts by email.
